Using PLM Solutions for Profitable Co-Development

Find out from practitioners at two leading companies - Dell and Analogic - how PLM solutions can help streamline co-development and increase profits.

Brandon Canaday, Sr. Manager of Global Product Configuration Management for Dell Computer Corporation, recently transitioned his organization from using a segmented product data management tool set to a fully integrated, web-enhanced PLM (product lifecycle management) solution – and set up co-development infrastructures with internal and external partners.

Thor Wallace, VP of Information Technology and CIO of Analogic Corporation (a $313M designer and manufacturer of medical devices and security systems), has also recently led an implementation of an integrated PLM solution to improve engineering operations.

Canaday and Wallace will both describe their respective experiences – how they chose, implemented and benefited from Agile PLM solutions.

Mr. Wallace is currently the Vice President of Information Technology and CIO of Analogic Corporation. Analogic is a $313M designer and manufacturer of medical devices and security systems. Recently, the Company was awarded a major contract for Explosive Detection Systems from the Transportation Security Administration. These systems are currently being deployed in the nation™s airports. Analogic has operations in the US, Denmark, and Canada. The company employs about 2,000 people. While with Analogic, Mr. Wallace has led projects to implement its ERP, supply chain, and human resource systems. In addition, he led efforts to implement an integrated product life cycle management (inPLMle) system improving Company engineering operations. Prior to working at Analogic, Mr. Wallace held similar positions at Cybex International and Kronos Incorporated. In addition, Mr. Wallace was a management consultant with Ernst and Young for almost ten years.

Mr. Wallace graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. degree and earned a Master of Accountancy degree from Case Western Reserve University. He is a CPA and CMA.

Brandon Canaday is Sr. Manager of Global Product Configuration Management for Dell Computer Corporation, the world’s leading direct computer systems company and a premier provider of products and services required for customers to build their Internet infrastructures. Brandon’s organization is accountable for the systems, processes and human resources that enable Dell to define, reuse and structure products and to manage and collaborate, globally, on changes to those products. Recently, Brandon’s organization strategically transitioned from using a segmented product data management tool set to a fully integrated, web-enhanced solution, integrating Dell’s product development and sustaining infrastructures with internal and external partners. This new infrastructure is the backbone of Dell’s ongoing initiatives designed to facilitate sustained advantages throughout its product’s lifecycles.

Brandon has 13 years of operations and sales management experience in the Aerospace and Electronics industries. Brandon has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He, and his wife, Sara, and daughter, Taylor, live in Austin, Texas.
